Especially if you need help cooking bacon.
Full disclosure : this is not how I cook bacon. I bake it on a wire rack over a cookie sheet @325 for maximum rendering and flatness.

Thin sliced, I do it at 400 for 10-15 mins, but I prefer thick center-cut (costs more, but less waste). 325- 350 for 20-30 minutes on those and they come out nice and tender.
I can’t believe I used skillets and microwaves for so many years. The oven is where it’s at.

I have a friend who used to by a two-pound block of thick-cut bacon then cook it in a cast iron skillet. He never drained the fat, so he was eventually deep frying the bacon in bacon fat. It tasted very good.

You ever do candied bacon? My wife does some magic with brown sugar bacon and the oven. I gotta tell ya, it’s crack. Sweet salty meat snack crack. I’ve been eating super healthy so I haven’t had it in a while but not that were talking about it, tomorrow morning sounds like a great time to sleep in then eat some candied bacon.

That looks like some tasty bacon. I’ve resorted to using the microwave because we don’t have the right pan/grid setup, it adds significant time to preparing breakfast, and I’m a lazy bum. It also give me a little more freedom in how it’s cooked. My son likes it a little chewy, four minutes on that batch. My wife and daughter like it extra crispy - 30 more seconds on that batch.

I certainly didn’t learn how to cook bacon in school. They definitely had us cook pasta, and maybe we baked cakes? Not an impressive thing to teach 7th graders, given that those are things I learned to do when I was three or four. Also luckily, I didn’t learn to cook bacon from my parents, because they like throwing it in the microwave and blasting it until there’s not a hint of moisture left.

If you want to do it ‘traditionally’and have it fast, just cook it before hand and freeze it. You can go from freezer to microwave to plate in <30 seconds, but it’ll still taste better if it was originally done elsewhere.

You missed the lazy bum part. I have no desire to be in th e kitchen at all. Pre-cooking something so I can heat it up later? Nope.
Besides, bacon has such a strong flavor and I’m never looking for p er fection, so microwave bacon is good enough.

325 is too high. Try cooking your bacon at 200- 250 for a much longer time. It comes out even better! But yeah when I have time, this is 100% my preferred way of making bacon. You get it wayyyyyyy crispier and its not super greasy which is lovely. I usually cook full packs of bacon this way and then I have bacon for the week.

I have also seen the light of oven-baked on a wire rack. It’s soooo worth the extra time and these days, my kids are up at 6 or 7 no matter what, so I have time in the kitchen to kill. Plus the whole house smells like bacon for like, half the day.
